SUMMARY:The "Healthy Zone" of Humidity
DESCRIPTION:Mechanical heating & cooling systems can reduce humidity inside buildings – sometimes more than intended. This is not necessarily a good thing! \nDuring this webinar\, we will discuss the many reasons why humidity is important. SUMMARY:Developing a Flexible Building Operation Plan
DESCRIPTION:[su_youtube_advanced url=”https://youtu.be/dj76CxjGPNU” controls=”alt” autohide=”yes” autoplay=”yes” modestbranding=”yes”] \nCOVID-19 may be forcing us to re-think our current Building Operation Plan as we prioritize occupant health. However\, this doesn’t mean that energy efficiency has to take a back seat – we can do both. \nIn this webinar\, we will discuss the importance of flexibility as we move through a phased re-opening process. We will discuss how evaluation\, execution\, monitoring\, and managing will be key to continued progress that also produces a desirable outcome for your finance and human resource departments. \nFeaturing Guest Speaker: \nEric DeVries \, E3M Solutions \n[su_button url=”https://migbc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/USGBC-WM-Presentation.pdf” target=”blank” style=”glass” background=”#c9e265″ color=”#000000″ size=”16″]Download PowerPoint[/su_button]

SUMMARY:Higher Ed Peer Forum On COVID-19: Managing Your Campus During a Pandemic
DESCRIPTION:The Higher Ed Round Table is a new forum that brings together higher education facility leaders & operators. If you are a representative from an educational institution\, join your peers and our industry experts for a discussion focused on “the new normal”.\n\nYou are in the driver’s seat. This is a small group to give you free expert and peer-to-peer consultation.\n\nShare your plans for bringing students back to campus. Learn what fellow Michigan colleges and universities are doing and ask the experts (and each other) questions on IAQ\, industrial cleaning\, social distancing\, or contingency & emergency response plans. This Higher Ed Round Table meets bi-monthly focused on relevant topics that you choose. Space will be limited in order to facilitate a manageable platform. SUMMARY:Assessing Your Indoor Water Quality
DESCRIPTION:[su_youtube_advanced url=”https://youtu.be/SrBpRJtLDTY” controls=”alt” autohide=”yes” autoplay=”yes” modestbranding=”yes”]\n\nPiping systems affect the health of your water before it reaches the faucet. There are many risk factors that hide out of sight from the naked eye\, especially if water has been stagnant during low use or a building shutdown. A one-time building flush might seem like a simple fix\, but it is not the only action needed. For this reason\, it is important to ask yourself: “Is water quality testing a part of my routine building maintenance?”\n\nDuring this webinar\, we will discuss the benefits of testing your water\, whether it comes from the city or well. Water quality testing is readily available\, but what happens after testing? Our guest speakers from Purdue University will elucidate the dangers of stagnant water in your building’s pipes and detail the importance of an action plan when understanding why and what to test for\, and deciphering your water results.\nFeaturing Guest Speakers: \nAndy Whelton\, Purdue University \nCaitlin Proctor\, Purdue University

SUMMARY:How to Synchronize your Building Systems through Retrocommissioning
DESCRIPTION:Life is a journey of change\, and like people\, indoor building environments must continuously adapt to meet the needs of their users. If you are practicing the old “set it and forget it” method in your facility\, you are likely wasting money in spaces of your building that are no longer being used as they were originally designed. The results of this can be costly as well as frustrating as fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels can bring complaints from occupants\, along with many other challenges. \nDuring this webinar\, we’ll talk with building operators that have seen the benefits of a deep dive into their building systems and went through the process of retrocommissioning\, or improving how their building equipment and system functions together. You will discover more about this holistic approach and how it became an important function of these owner/operators’ businesses. \nYou will learn:  \n\nWhat types and sizes of buildings benefit from retrocommissioning\nUtility incentives available to help pay for retrocommissioning\nWhere to start with retrocommissioning\n\nFeaturing Guest Speakers: \n\nEdna Lorenz\, Beaumont Hospital\nAndrew Luzenski\, Peter Basso Associates\nHillary Vadnal\, Trane\nAudrey Ewen\, Consumers Energy (Moderator)\nJohn Nametz\, Consumers Energy (Moderator)\n\n[su_button url=”https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_pGFCFQOATg6lKs13H1v27Q” target=”blank” style=”glass” background=”#A5D971″ color=”#000000″ size=”10″]Register Here[/su_button] \n

SUMMARY:Building Performance Standards: A Win-Win Scenario
DESCRIPTION:Join the City of Grand Rapids\, GR2030 District\, and Urban Core Collective as we launch the Equitable\, Healthy Zero Carbon Building (E.H.Zero) virtual series. The E.H.Zero initiative aims to equitably achieve affordability\, positive health outcomes\, and resilience while reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions in buildings. The desired outcome of E.H.Zero is to co-create policies & programs with our community that will transform our city and create long-term impacts for substantive change. \nWith building operation emissions accounting for nearly 30% of the globe’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions\, it is befitting to look at the management of building operations as a key player in reducing our collective GHGs. Dozens of municipalities are incorporating Building Performance Standards (BPS) as an avenue to achieve robust community GHG reductions. In its simplest form\, BPS set targets overtime to make measurable reductions using metrics such as energy use\, carbon\, etc. This webinar will answer how Grand Rapids could benefit from integrating BPS\, and discuss key example cities to visualize how this could be implemented in our city. \nJoin Tara Brown\, City Solutions Manager at Institute for Market Transformation\, Ben Rabe\, Project Manager with the Codes and Policy Team at New Building Institute\, and panelist peer stakeholders to learn what BPS is and how it has worked for cities similar to Grand Rapids. \n[su_spacer] \n[su_button url=”https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ySvJ24vdQiyYE87h4SIZkg” target=”blank” style=”glass” background=”#71b5d9″ color=”#000000″ size=”10″]Register Here[/su_button] \n[su_button url=”https://migbc.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/E.H.Zero-Webinar-Series-Flyer-2.pdf” target=”blank” style=”glass” background=”#71b5d9″ color=”#000000″ size=”10″]Download Flyer[/su_button]
